Why is CBD Expensive?

Good quality CBD is expensive.  Let me tell you why.

What is CBD?

CBD is one of more than one hundred cannabinoids found in cannabis.  It is different from its cousin THC, which is also a cannabinoid.

THC is the compound that gives one the feeling of a high sensation when smoking or using marijuana products.

CBD, on the other hand, does not cause a high, and there have not been any reports of death from CBD.  CBD helps relax the mind and the body without a psychoactive sensation.

CBD is legal in all 50 states, while THC is not.  This is because CBD contains no more than 0.3% THC.

How do I Choose a CBD Oil that Works?

why is cbd so expensive

Your CBD at your local gas station differs significantly from that at a trusted CBD store.

This is because CBD oil varies in potency and purity.  However, buyer beware! A high price doesn’t guarantee potency and purity, just as a low price should concern you.

When purchasing CBD, the first thing to do is to check the milligrams of CBD in the product.  It should be labeled clearly on the front.  If not, put it down and walk away slowly.

Next, check the ingredients.  None of the ingredients should be a cause for concern.  They should all be natural ingredients aside from the oil, usually MCT, coconut, or hemp.

Ensure there is an FDA disclaimer or language stating that the product is not intended to diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any diseases.

How is CBD Made?

There are two primary CBD extraction processes used to create CBD products.

The first is the ethanol extraction process.  Alcohol is used to strip CBD oil from the hemp plant, and then ethanol is added to hemp. The mixture is strained and distilled until there’s no more ethanol remaining.

This process is inexpensive and creates non-potent and less expensive CBD products.

The second CBD extraction process is called CO2 extraction. This process utilizes expensive machinery in a much more controlled environment. Pressurized carbon dioxide is used to pull the oil from the hemp. The CO2 extraction method is known for producing very high-quality and potent CBD oil and, thus, is more costly.

Are There Different Qualities and Strengths of CBD?

Yes. As with marijuana plants, hemp growers create strains for the desired chemical makeup. This is necessary because the hemp used for CBD oil extraction needs to contain high amounts of CBD; otherwise, the product won’t have any effect on the consumer.

That’s why checking CBD's potency (milligrams) is essential before purchase.  Some cheaper CBD products contain little or no CBD but still label the product as CBD oil.  Always purchase CBD from a reputable source.  And if possible, get a recommendation from someone who has used the product before and can verify it works!  At My Pain Center, we only sell products we believe work and provide honest testimonials on each product we recommend.

Cheap CBD and Additives

Low-quality products may contain chemicals that are harmful to your body.  These chemicals could be due to a cheap, poor-quality extraction process, low-quality hemp, unsanitary production environments, or a bit of each!

That’s why it is super important to go with a trusted brand, even if it is pricier, to ensure you’re not ingesting chemical solvents.

Can I Buy CBD on Amazon?

You can find cheap CBD on Amazon. Buyer beware (I say this a lot!)!

The sale of CBD on Amazon is not permitted, so products labeled as 'CBD' on the platform may not be legitimate. Exercise caution when purchasing CBD from online platforms like Amazon, Google Shopping, Facebook, or Instagram.

Is CBD Oil Worth the Price Tag?

Honestly, sometimes it’s not.  I have tried over 100 CBD products, and many of them were poor quality and not worth the expensive price.  Some did absolutely nothing.  But the ones I did find and love provided me with many benefits, including reduced pain, improved mood, and decreased stress.

With the right product, CBD can change your life.  Sadly, with the wrong product, you may feel scammed and lose faith in the benefits of CBD.  If you need help picking the right product, contact us, and let’s find something that will work!

Why Should I Use CBD?

Research has explored the potential benefits of CBD for various health conditions such as pain, sleep, stress, and mood. While it may offer relief, it's important to note that CBD has not been proven as a cure for these conditions.

CBD may be considered a natural alternative to some medications, but it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional before making any changes to your medication regimen.

Closing Thoughts

While some high-priced brands may indicate high quality, it's crucial to research, read reviews, check potencies (mg), and ensure you're choosing a safe, clean product. Price alone may not always reflect the product's quality.

For some brands, a high price means high quality.  For others, a high price means strong branding and no benefits.  And then there are the cheaper CBD products that entice you but leave you feeling the same (or even worse).  It’s essential to research, read reviews, check potencies (mg), and ensure you’re ingesting a safe, clean product.

A good quality CBD has a lot of benefits, including better health, happiness, and overall quality of life.  A low-grade CBD oil may leave you feeling scammed.
