Delta 8 gummies are all the craze right now. But what exactly is Delta 8 and is it legal?
What is Delta 8 THC?
The cannabis plant has hundreds of cannabinoids, such as CBD and THC. Another cannabinoid is Delta 8 THC.
Wait, but what’s THC and how is it different from Delta 8 THC?
THC or Delta-9 THC is the THC you are probably most familiar with. It’s the THC you hear about in marijuana or weed. It’s the cannabinoid that is mostly illegal in the United States, minus a few states who have legalized THC. People have a love and hate relationship with THC, because THC may (not in everyone; each person reacts differently to THC) cause paranoia, elevated anxiety, or dizziness. THC may also make you feel “stoned” which is one reason people have moved to CBD.
So, what is Delta 8 THC?
Delta-8 THC is another cannabinoid in the cannabis plant, but it has a different chemistry component than Delta-9 THC. Due to its chemistry, Delta-8 THC should not make one feel as paranoid, dizzy or stoned. I feel a body high with Delta-8. If you do experience a mind high or stoned feeling from Delta-8 THC you may have taken more than the recommended dose (start small with ~5mg), your product may have more than the legal Delta-9 limit, or you are highly sensitive to THC. Each person reacts differently to Delta-8, so start low (I suggest no more than 10mg your first time). Remember it takes a few hours for a Delta 8 gummy to digest, so do not think it's not working.
Delta 8 THC may help you with*:
- Anxiety
- Sleep
- Pain
- Nausea
- And Appetite
I consider Delta 8 THC the light version of Delta 9 THC. Another way to think about is, if you enjoy going out and taking shots, you may like Delta 9 THC. But if you rather but rather sip wine at home, then you want Delta 8 THC.
Delta 8 THC has shown to be*:
-
Less anxiety provoking
-
Less sedating
-
Leave you more clear-headed
-
Relaxing
-
Smoother / less potent than Delta 9 THC
-
a Manageable feeling
What is Delta 8 THC good for?
- If you find little relief from CBD, but don’t want to use THC
- Low tolerance for THC
- Need a stronger way to manage anxiety or pain (that's not THC)
Do be aware, that Delta 8 THC can have the legal amount of Delta 9 THC under the Farm Bill Act of 2018, which is 0.3%. Which means if you get drug tested, be careful.

You will absolutely fail a drug test from consuming delta 8 products. It is not because the products may contain the federal legal limit of delta 9 (.3%). Delta 8 metabolizes in your body the same way delta 9 does and it IS still THC. So when you take a drug test that is looking for THC, the delta 8 shows the same way delta 9 will. So it will cause you to fail a THC drug test. Your body can’t tell the difference between the delta 8 and delta 9 cannabinoid. It processes them both the same. I just don’t want people to think that they will only fail bcz of the .3% or less delta 9, which yes, can also happen. But there is waaayy more THC coming from the delta 8 than the delta 9 in the case of delta 8 product consumption. There is a chance that if you consume enough full spectrum CBD that contains .3% or less of delta 9 THC that it will pop on a test. But in this case, when consuming a delta 8 product, the failing of a test would, without a doubt, cause you to fail because of the actual delta 8 THC. I love Delta 8 THC products and use them every day so I am not hating on it by any means. I am just trying to educate so that people understand.
I’m very interested in the Delta 8 Gummies. I may order, I’m contemplating the cost if it’s a product that doesn’t satisfy my pain control and anxiety. I think it would be majorly helpful to have a starter pack with both Delta 8 Indica and Sativa
Gummies for those of us that hesitate to pay the cost of two full bottles of 30 each.
